About
Crate Digger is the first truly immersive, store-based online music marketplace — built to capture the feeling of walking into a record shop and flipping through the crates.
Buying records online has always felt like browsing a spreadsheet. Endless lists, tiny thumbnails, no soul. You lose everything that makes record shopping special — the atmosphere, the discovery, the experience of being in the shop.
Crate Digger puts you inside the store. Each shop has its own identity, its own crates, its own vibe. You flip through inventory like you're standing at the bins — then buy directly from the store. No middleman, no generic listings.
How It Works
Browse real record shops from around the world, each with their own branding and personality.
Flip through their actual inventory — see condition, hear previews, read liner notes.
Add to your stack and buy directly from the store. They pack it, they ship it.
Crate Digger started as a simple idea: I was building an online presence for my own record store, Bull Records, and realized that every platform out there made the buying experience feel the same — impersonal, utilitarian, forgettable.
I wanted something that felt like walking into the shop. Something where the store's identity came through. Where browsing was an experience, not a chore. So I started building the platform I wished already existed.
What began as a single-store project has grown into a marketplace — a place where any independent record shop can set up their own digital storefront with the same care and character they put into their physical space.
What We Believe
Vinyl, CDs, cassettes — they're not nostalgia. They're the best way to own and experience music.
Every shop has its own taste, its own curation, its own community. That should come through online.
Shopping for records shouldn't feel like filling out a form. It should feel like digging through the crates.
No warehouses, no aggregators. You buy from the store, and the store ships it to you.
Browse our stores and find your next favorite record.
Built for the love of physical media — by collectors, for collectors.
